Although Myra Sawyer Roberts attended Boston University during an era in which women were prohibited from participating in intercollegiate athletics, there were no such limitations placed on interclass competition, and Roberts excelled in nine sports.
A naturally talented individual, Roberts was exceptionally fleet of foot, who was affectionately referred to as "Speed" by her classmates. Her versatility was best evidenced by the fact that she was an exceptional swimmer, proving she could perform equally well in individual and team sports.
However, her talents were not limited to the athletic confines of Sargent College. A standout member of the Boston Field Hockey Association, Roberts competed against a variety of local club teams and groups.
She tried out for, and was later selected to play for the Northeast entrant which qualified for the National Field Hockey Tournament held in Cleveland, Ohio.
In recognition of her diverse and highly-developed skills, Myra Sawyer Roberts was named the Most Athletic Female in her graduating class, and received the Tnegras Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a Sargent College graduating senior.
