Terrier Twelve - #1: Softball Completes Patriot League Four-Peat

Returning for an 18th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year.
Coming in at No. 1 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the softball team continuing its reign in the Patriot League by completing a historic four-peat.
Head coach Ashley Waters and her staff swept the conference and regional coach of the year awards after guiding the team to a 47-win season and its fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance, where they fell twice in hard-fought contests against Ole Miss while earning a win over Marist.
The Terriers went 16-2 in Patriot League play after earning non-conference wins against Maryland, Northwestern, Ohio State and upsetting nationally-ranked Duke twice.
The senior class became just the second in PL history to win four titles after the Terriers went 3-0 in the tournament, defeating Lafayette, Army West Point and Colgate.
Three-time PL Pitcher of the Year Kasey Ricard had a nation-best 33 wins and set school and conference career records in both wins and strikeouts. Classmate Brooke Deppiesse broke the school and PL records for runs in a season and joined junior Kylie Doherty among the top-60 nationally in hits. Doherty smashed the school and conference records for home runs and runs batted in with 27 and 89, respectively.
In the NCAA Lubbock Regional, the Terriers had the go-ahead run at home plate before Ole Miss turned a double play to prevail in the opening game, 8-6. BU bounced back by eliminating MAAC champion Marist in run-rule fashion, 10-2 (5), with a PL-record 10 runs in NCAA tournament action. During the rematch against the Rebels, the SEC squad pulled away with a four-run fifth to eliminate the Terriers, 9-4.
The Terriers increased their win total from a year prior by eight games and nearly cut the RPI in half from 108 to 57. They also finished the season ranked in the top 100 in 26 statistical categories, highlighted by the nation's seventh-best .443 on-base percentage and the eighth-most 17 shutouts.
