Davidson Roundball Invitational Recap DAVIDSON, NC- The Terriers lost both games of the Davidson Roundball Invitational, losing to Marshall, 59-52, last Saturday, and Davidson, 61-57, last Sunday... In the loss to Marshall, B.U. scored a season-low 52 points and made just nine-of-19 free-throws (47.4 %)... Freshman Rachel Werner scored a career-high 17 points and sophomore Dia Dufault collected a career-high 11 rebounds.. Against Davidson, B.U. stormed back from 10 points down, 56-46, with under four minutes to go, but lost to Davidson, 61-57... The Terriersmade a season-high eight three-point field goals.. B.U. was outrebounded for the first time this season, 37-33... Dufault scored a team-high 14 points and freshmen Alison Argentieri and Werner added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Nelson and Tomasini Are The Captains Leading the Terriers into the 21st century this season will be sophomore guard Annie Tomasini and sophomore forward Anne Nelson.. Both players have started all five games this season... Tomasini is averaging 2.0 ppg and 2.9 apg, while Nelson adds 4.0 ppg and 3.2 rpg.

Longest Road Trip In Program History The Boston University women's basketball program is in the middle of a nine-game road trip...The trip began on Tuesday, November 23 as the Terriers defeated Harvard, 75-67, in Cambridge... The longest previous road trip occurred during the 1977-78 season, when B.U. played five games in an eight-game span... Tonight, head coach Margaret McKeon embarks on her first America East game at New Hampshire... On Saturday, Terrier assistant coach Cindy Blodgett returns to Maine as B.U. takes on the Black Bears in Augusta... On Tuesday, December 14, B.U. will travel to Columbus, OH to play the Ohio State Buckeyes... The Terriers close out the 20th century and its road trip playing at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY on December 29.
Dixon Held to Single Digits Junior forward Alison Dixon was held to six points in Sunday's 61-57 loss at Davidson... The six points scored was her lowest since her collegiate debut on November 20, 1997 - a span of 60 games.
Dixon's Scoring Ranks High Alison Dixon is currently the highest-scoring B.U. player after two seasons of play... Entering this season,Dixon had 819 points in 54 career games... Dixon and Jill Sosnak (95) (791 points in 52 games) are the only two Terriers to score more than 700 points in their first two seasons.
Twenty Something Junior forward Alison Dixon has scored 20 or more points in 30-of-60 career games for the Terriers.... Last season, Dixon scored 20 or more points in a game 11 times, including a career-high 30 points vs. Dartmouth on November 23... Last December, Dixon had a string of five straight 20-point games, tying a B.U. women's record... Debbie Miller (81) also had five straight 20-point efforts in 1979-80.
Dufault Delivers Sophomore guard Dia Dufault is second on the team in scoring (12.2 ppg) and second in rebounding (6.8 rpg).. Against Marshall last Saturday, Dufault grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds... Then on Sunday vs. Davidson, Dufault scored a team-high 14 points... In the season-opener against Colgate, Dufault equaled a career-high with 25 points in the Terriers' 78-58 win... At Harvard on November 23, Dufault netted 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had a career-high five steals, in B.U.'s 75-67 win.
There's More Than One Alison On This Team Freshman point guard Alison Argentieri is quiclky establishing her own identity for the Terriers... B.U. already had one Alison in Dixon, but Argentieri is certainly letting opponents know that there is more than one Alison on this team... Argentieri is leading the Terriers in minutes played (35.0 mpg), assists (31, 5.1 apg), and steals (16, 2.6 spg)... At Harvard, on November 23, Argentieri scored a career-high 21 points in leading B.U. to a 75-67 victory over the Crimson... Argentieri was 6-of-8 from the floor, 4-of-5 from three-point land, and made 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in the final :40.
Timely Tulley Sophomore guard Jen Tulley came off the bench last Saturday to dish out a career-high five assists... The 5-7 guard also scored six points...Last Sunday vs. Davidson, Tulley scored all nine of her points from three-point range... She is one of five Terriers to average nine or more points a game this season (9.3 ppg)... Tulley is second on the team in made three-point field goals (7) and leads the team in attempts (26)... She is shooting 75.0 % from the free-throw line this season (9-of-12)
Werner Named All-Tournament Freshman forward Rachel Werner scored a career-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and collected a career-best seven rebounds in B.U.'s 59-52 loss to Marshall on Saturday, December 5... On Sunday, December 5 vs. Davidson, Werner added her second straight double figure output with 10 points and added seven more rebounds for B.U... For her efforts, Werner was named to the Davidson Roundball Invitational All-Tournament Team... Werner has been coming off the bench this season to average 9.8 ppg and 4.8 rpg... She is connecting on 49 % of her field goal attempts (24-of-49) and 64.7 % of free-throw attempts (11-of-17)... Werner is averaging 25.0 minutes per game.
Head Coach Margaret McKeon Hired on April 26, 1999, 31-year old Margaret McKeon is the fifth head coach in the history of the Boston University women's basketball program... A former standout point guard at St. John's University, McKeon brings a history of coaching success to the Terrier program... McKeon has served as an assistant coach at Arizona State (1991-93), the University of Houston (1993-95), and most recently, George Washington University (1995-99)... In four years at GW, McKeon helped the Colonials to three Atlantic 10 regular-season championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight finish in 1997 and a final number 10 ranking in the CNN/USA TODAY poll.
Quoting McKeon "It will obviously be a rebuilding year, but the team will be motivated and prepared. There are some young players on this team with good futures."
New Staff in Place McKeon has hired three assistants on her coaching staff - Jerry McLaughlin (Flagler 77) - Gabrielle Butler (Franklin & Marshall 85) and Cindy Blodgett (Maine 98)... A former head coach at Siena and Alaska-Anchorage, McLaughlin has also coached at Temple, New Mexico State, and Kentucky... Butler comes to B.U. after spending eight seasons as an assistant coach - the last four with Margaret McKeon - at George Washington University... Blodgett, who plays for the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA, led Maine to four America East conference titles and four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament...At Maine, Blodgett set 18 University of Maine records including scoring with 3005 points in 118 games for an average of 25.5 ppg... The point total currently ranks as the fifth-highest career total in NCAA Division I history.
