Three Boston University Seniors Complete Fine Careers on Hardwood

BOSTON - Three Boston University women's basketball senior tri-captains - Gina LaPlante (Williamsville, NY), Cara Millett (Portland, ME), and Jamie Nicholls (Ringwood, NJ) - recently completed their collegiate careers on the hardwood. The Terriers finished the 1998-99 season with a 5-22 record after losing to Towson, 87-67, in the first round of the America East Championships in Burlington, VT.
#13 - GINA LAPLANTE - Forward Appeared in 23 games, starting 14... Averaged 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds... Led team with 26 blocked shots, and was fifth in America East... Shot .720 (18-of-25) from the free-throw line... Tied a career-high with four blocked shots against Towson on 1/9... Had a career-high 12 rebounds vs. Vermont on 2/19... Appeared in 97 career games, starting 34... A three-time America East Academic Honor Roll selection.
#12 - JAMIE NICHOLLS - Guard Started all 27 games... Second on the team in scoring (13.8 ppg)... Had 20 double-figure scoring outings, including four 20-point efforts... Had a team- and career-high 39 three-point field goals... Second on the team in free-throw percentage at .742 (72-of-97)... Averaged 2.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game... Scored a season-high 24 points vs. Delaware State on 12/1... Tallied 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting at Hartford on 2/21... Became the 11th player in B.U. women's basketball history to score 1,000 points with a first-half basket vs. Vermont on 2/19... Appeared in 105 career games, starting 79... Ranks 8th on the B.U. career scoring list (1,052), 3rd on the career three-point field goals (97), and 3rd on the free throws list (222)... Earned America East Third Team All-Conference honors in 1997-98.
#21 - CARA MILLETT - Guard Started all 27 games... Fourth on the team in scoring (5.7 ppg)... First on the team in assists (150, 5.6 apg) and steals (55, 2.0 spg)... Averaged 2.4 rebounds per game... Had two double-figure scoring outings, including a season-high 15-point effort vs. Marist on 11/29... Dished out a season-high 10 assists at Hartford on 2/21... Had three six-steal games...
