Men Fall To Brown
April 6, 1999 | Men's Rowing
The varsity heavyweight men's crew saw its record slip to 0-2, as it lost to one of the East's top-ranked crews, Brown University, on the Charles. The Terriers, who lost their season opener a week earlier at home to Syracuse, trailed from the outset, as Brown won by two boat lengths.
Bythe 750-meter mark, the Bears enjoyed open water and increased its lead to two boat lengths by the finish.
Brown's winning time was 5:53, almost eight seconds faster than B.U., 6:00.87. Brown enjoyed similar success in the second varsity and first freshmen races.
In the 2V, the Bears were timed in 6:03.08 to 6:14.0 for the Terriers, while, in the freshman race, Brown won, 5:56.43 to 6:01.18
