November 21, 2000 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Three swimmers were double winners, but it was not enough as the host Terrier women's swimming and diving team opened its season on a down note, losing to Northeastern, 172-124, on October 28.
Freshman Kelli Sweeting (Sarasota, FL) won both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke with times of 1:01.18 and 2:09.88. In addition, senior Laurie Green (St. John's, NF Canada) won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:08.36 and 2:28.44. Finally, freshman Stacey Gallacher (Horsehenhos, NY) won the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 273.90 and 259.35, respectively.
Three other Terrier swimmers scored valuable points by virtue of second-place finishes. Sophomore Margaret O' Neill (Chattanooga, TN) finished second to Sweating in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Karissa Lopez (Santa Fe, NM) was second in 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley. Also, senior Kerry Kusz (Iron Mountain, MI) was second in the 50-yard freestyle.
