CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Chattanooga basketball forward Dusty Pullian was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, the SoCon office announced Tuesday.
Pullian posted back-to-back double-doubles in the past week's two games. He had 14 points and 11 rebounds at the College of Charleston Monday and scored a career-high 18 points and matched his career best with 12 boards in Saturday's win over Georgia Southern.
Pullian's feat against GSU was one of three double-doubles recorded by the Mocs in the victory. The win over the Eagles ensured UTC of the second seed in the upcoming SoCon Tournament and a first-round bye.
The junior from Benton Harbor, Mich., secured a school and Southern Conference record for field goal percentage in a season. After Saturday's 7-for-7 shooting performance, Pullian finished with regular-season shooting percentage of 68.8 (86-for-125). He went 4-of-7 from the floor Monday at the College of Charleston.
The record supplants the old school mark of 64.8 set by Chris Mims in 1996-97 and the SoCon record of 67.5 set by East Tennessee State's Troy Mikell in 1982-83.
The Mountain Dew SoCon Tournament is Thursday through Sunday in Greenville, S.C. UTC plays the winner of the Appalachian State-Furman game Friday at 8:30 p.m.
