Women's Crew Ranked Eighth
April 13, 2000 | Women's Rowing
The Terriers' varsity women's crew, undefeated in its first three regattas, was ranked eighth in the April 12 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/US Rowing National Collegiate Coaches Poll.
B.U. has opened it season with regatta wins over UMass/Amherst and New Hampshire in the inaugural event of the spring, over Syracuse and Miami during the second weekend, and over George Washington and Navy last weekend. The Terriers had hopes of adding another regatta victory last weekend over Georgetown, but poor weather conditions on the Potomac forced the race to be cancelled.
B.U. will be in action next on Saturday, April 15, when it travels to Yale for a race against the Elis and Dartmouth.
In this week's poll, Yale is ranked 12th, while Dartmouth is just shy of cracking the Top 20 as it is listed as "others receiving votes."
The University of Washington, with 9-of-17 first-place votes, is ranked number one this week with 332 votes, while Brown is second with eight firsts and 329 points.
The rest of the top 10, in order, are University of California-Berkeley, 307 points; University of Virginia, 288; University of Southern California, 262; Princeton, 251; University of Michigan, 245; BOSTON UNIVERSITY, 204; Radcliffe, 195; and the University of Wisconsin, 192.
