Sophomore Karissa Lopez (Santa Fe, NM) led the Terrier women's swimming team to a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 100-meter freestyle event at the annual College Swimming Coaches Athletic Association Forum Classic.
The Terriers competed in the meet on Thursday, January 11th at the Swimming Hall of Fame pool in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
It marked B.U.'s first competition since a 129-113 loss to Central Connecticut on December 9th.
Lopez was timed in 1:03.89. Senior Kerry Kusz was second in 1:04.52, while she was followed by junior Christina Chen (Tacoma, WA) in 1:05.26, and senior Corey Cooper (Springfield, VA) in 1:05.79
"It is quite an honor to sweep an event," said head coach Reagh Wetmore. "It is of special note when you consider there were about 20 teams entered.
"In fact, after the meet, a number of coaches came up to congratulate me our team's accomplishment."
The 100-meter freestyle was the only swimming event that was on the schedule that day.
In addition, the one- and three-meter dives were on the schedule.
Freshman Stacey Gallacher (Horseheads, NY), who was undefeated during the fall season, finished third while junior Bridge Nord (Bloomington, IL) was fourth at the Fort Lauderdale competition.
The Terriers return to dual meet competition on Saturday (Jan. 20) when they host the University of Vermont. The meet will start at 1:00 p.m.
