Terriers fall to Northeastern in Season Opener

The Terrier womens swimming and diving team opened their 2001-2002 season with a loss to Northeastern, 206-92, on Saturday.
Three Terriers had three first-place finishes, including freshman Lauren Foster (Lake Quivira, KS), who made her collegiate debut winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.12. Sophomore Laurie Green (St. John's, Newfoundland) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.42, while junior Karissa Lopez (Sante Fe, NM) took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:11.06.
Lopez, who set a meet record at the America East Championships last year in the 200-yard butterfly, had a second-place finish against the Huskies in the event, finishing in 2:08.56, three seconds behind first-place finisher Emily White of Northeastern.
Green also had a second-place finish to go along with her victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing behind Kristen Kane in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.29.
Sophomore Kelli Sweeting (Sarasota, FL) had two second-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes.
Sophomore Stacey Gallacher (Horseheads, NY) placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
The Terriers next host America East foe New Hampshire this Saturday (November 3).
