November 20, 2001 | Men's Basketball
In his first collegiate game against New Orleans in the first round of the Guardians Classic in Iowa City, Carr played 16 minutes, contributing three assists and two steals to the Terriers' 69-63 come-from-behind victory over the Privateers.
The next night, against No. 8 Iowa, Carr scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. He made 1-of-3 three-pointers, and was 4-of-4 from the free throw line, helping keep B. U. in the game against the Hawkeyes, before Iowa pulled away late in the game. In the second half, Carr was 4-of-5 from the field, scoring nine of his 15 points.
Against No. 17 Boston College, Carr again played well, hitting 3-of-4 three-pointers on his way to 11 points. Carr handled the Eagles' pressure well, and routinely played opposite All-American Troy Bell. Overall, Carr has made 4-of-8 three-pointers and 6-of-7 of his free throws. His .857 free throw percentage ranks him eighth in the league after the first week of play.
The award, the first handed out by the conference this season, is Carr's first accolade as a member of the Terriers. He has been sharing time with sophomore guard Kevin Fitzgerald at the point guard position, averaging 20.7 minutes per contest. He also averages 1.7 rebounds per game.
