Terriers Picked to Finish in a Tie for Fifth with Northeastern
BOSTON - Sophomore guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ), a member of last year's America East All-Rookie and B.U.'s leading scorer, was named to the Pre-Season All-Conference Team.
In addition, the Terriers were picked to finish in a tie for fifth with Northeastern in the America East this season in a pre-season poll by the league's coaches.

Terhune had one of the most remarkable freshman seasons in B. U. women's basketball history last season, leading the team in scoring with a 16.2-points-per-game average. She shattered the team's freshman scoring record by tallying 438 points, besting the previous mark of 354 points scored by Alison Dixon in the 1997-98 season. She played in 27 of the team's 29 games, and was the team's leading scorer in 17 games. Terhune finished the season ranked 12th in the country and led the conference in free throw accuracy, hitting 88.3 percent of her free throws.
Last season, the Terriers were 6-12 in conference play, finishing the season in eighth place out of 10 teams. B.U. won its first-round match-up in the post-season tournament, defeating Hofstra 82-72, before bowing out to top-seeded Delaware, 67-49, in the quarterfinals.
Vermont, which reached the tournament finals last season, was picked as the league's top team, receiving 80 points and eight first-place picks. Hartford, a semifinalist in last year's tournament, finished second with 69 points and one first-place pick. Maine was picked third with 64 points, while New Hampshire was picked in fourth with 49 points. B.U. and Northeastern each received 41 points, while conference newcomers Stony Brook, Binghamton, and Albany rounded out the field.
