Carr Earns America East Rookie Of The Week Honor
December 17, 2001 | Men's Basketball
Playing a career-high 31 minutes, Carr sparked B. U. offensively in the opening seconds of the game, hitting a three-pointer with just 25 seconds elapsed to put the Terriers up to stay at 3-0. He finished 5-for-10 from the field, including a 2-for-3 effort from behind the three-point line. He also contributed with four assists in the game.
Carr, who will likely see more playing time due to the season-ending shoulder injury to junior guard Matt Turner, is averaging 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per contest. Along with junior forward Billy Collins, he leads the team with 12 steals. He has made an impressive 8-of-18 three-pointers (.444) this season.
It is the second America East Rookie of the Week accolade for Carr this season. He earned the league's first award of the season after averaging 8.7 points in the Terriers' first three games against nationally ranked Iowa and Boston College, and New Orleans.
The Terriers, who have won three of four games and have a 5-4 overall record, will next face the BIG EAST's Providence Friars at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Saturday, Dec. 22. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
