Boston Advances in American East Touranment; Defeats Hofstra, 82-72

Burlington, VT (March 7, 2001) -- Allison Dixon scored 18 points as all five Boston University starters scored in double-figures as the eighth-seeded Terriers held off #9 Hofstra, 82-72, in the first round opener of the National Life Group America East Women's Basketball Championships at UVM's Patrick Gym on Wednesday night.
The Pride's Jen Brickey scored 18 first half points as Hofstra jumped out to an early lead. But the Terriers, just six minutes prior to halftime, used a 12-3 run to break a 28-28 tie and take the lead for good.
In addition to Dixon, Courtney Jones tallied 17, Marisa Moseley and Katie Terhune each had 11 while Dia Dufault added 10 for Boston University. The Terriers went 19-of-21 from the line and committed just nine turnovers as they improve to 10-18 and advance to play top-seeded Delaware tomorrow at 2 pm in the quarterfinals.
Brickey, named to the all-America East second team earlier in the day led Hofstra with a game-high 23 points while Kimberly Coke (also 10 rebounds) and Lisa Harris each scored 15. The Pride close out their season with seven straight losses and finish the campaign at 8-19.
