Women Rowers Swept By Virginia

The Terrier women's varsity heavyweight crew, ranked number 20 in the nation, put on a valiant effort on Saturday (April 27th) against 11th-ranked Virginia, but lost to the host Cavaliers by less than half a length.
Rowing on the Rivanna Reservoir, Virginia was timed in 6:37.3, while the Terriers were clocked in 6:39.9 over the course that featured good rowing conditions. The water was flat and there was no wind, and the Terriers put on an outstanding effort against the higher-ranked Cavaliers.
It proved to be the closest race of the day, as Virginia swept all of the events during the afternoon's regatta. The Cavaliers' second varsity eight had a time of 6:39.2 compared to the Terriers' 6:48.0.
Virginia's first varsity four finished with a time of 7:34.1 to defeat Boston University, 7:48.6. UVa's second varsity four finished third in the race with a time of 7:50.1.
Finally, the Cavaliers' first novice eight had a time of 7:03.5 to defeat the Terriers, who were clocked in 7:09.7. Virginia's second novice eight finished third with a time of 7:21.4.
