Vanderbilt, Tulane Highlight Women's Basketball Schedule

The Boston University women's basketball team released its 2001-02 schedule, highlighted by NCAA tournament qualifiers Vanderbilt and Tulane, as well as the addition of three new America East Conference teams, head coach Margaret McKeon announced today.
Last season Vanderbilt reached the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional Final before falling to eventual national champion Notre Dame. The Lady Commodores finished the season 24-10 and ranked seventh in the country in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Terriers host Vanderbilt at Case Gymnasium on Friday, Dec. 21
B. U. opens the 2002 portion of its schedule with a date with Conference USA opponent Tulane on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Last season the Green Wave captured the Conference USA championship, and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament's Midwest Regional.
For the second straight season the Terriers host the B. U. Invitational at Case Gymnasium beginning Saturday, Nov. 17. B. U. invites Southern Methodist - which finished third in the Western Athletic Conference last year, Georgia Southern - which won the Southern Conference regular-season title last season, and another Conference USA team in South Florida to Boston. Seeding for the two-day tournament has not yet been determined.
The Terriers play 16 America East Conference games this season, and welcome three new league opponents. After Delaware, Hofstra and Towson made the move to the Colonial Athletic Association, Albany, Binghamton and Stony Brook gained entrance into the America East beginning in the 2001-02 season. B. U. hosts Albany on Thursday, Jan. 24, and play the Great Danes in Albany on Saturday, Feb. 16. Binghamton hosts B. U. on Friday, Jan.11, and travels to Boston on Sat. Jan. 26. The Terriers meet Stony Brook for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Stony Brook, and host the Sea Wolves on Thursday, Feb. 21.
In non-conference action to Terriers will be involved in the Lehigh Tournament in Bethlehem, Pa. beginning on Saturday, Nov. 24. B. U. also travels to Waco, Texas to face Baylor on Sunday, Dec. 2, and crosses the Charles River to play at Harvard on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
For the second straight year under McKeon, the Terriers finished the season with more wins than the previous year. B. U. wrapped up its 2000-01 campaign with a 10-19 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the America East Championship.
