Terhune Caps Milestone Week With Conference Honor

BOSTON - Following a milestone week, junior guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) was named the Wilson Player of the Week by the America East Conference on Monday, Dec. 9. Terhune averaged 20.7 points per game as the Terriers enjoyed a 2-1 record for the week, raising her career-point total to 1,048 which ranks 10th on the all-time list.
In the Terriers' 69-51 win over Central Connecticut State, Terhune became the 13th player in B.U. women's basketball history to score over 1,000 points in a career. She scored a game-high 22 points against the Blue Devils.
As the Terriers competed at the Moran Realty Classic in Chicago, Terhune tied a team-high with 12 points in the first round game against Montana State and scored a season- and game-high 28 points against Loyola-Chicago in the consolation game.
Terhune was named to the Moran Realty Classic All-Tournament Team following the Terriers' 64-54 win over the Ramblers in the Consolation game. Terhune has been named to the All-Tournament Team at all five regular-season tournaments she has participated in during her career.
The weekly honor is the first of the season and eighth of her career. Terhune was named Player of the Week three times during her sophomore season in 2001-02 and Rookie of the Week four times during her freshman season in 2000-01.
A Pre-Season All-Conference selection, Terhune ranks second in the league in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. Terhune is also tied for ninth in the league in steals (1.83 spg) and three-point field goal percentage (1.67), 10th in field goal percentage (.433), and 11th in free throw percentage (.788).
The Terriers (2-4) return from a two-week layoff during finals period on Dec. 21 when they host Stanford at 2 p.m. at Case Gymnasium.
