Terriers Fall Victim To Strong UMass Team, 194-106

AMHERST, MA-The Terrier men's swimming and diving team managed only three wins Saturday, Nov. 8, in a 194-106 loss to the three-year Atlantic 10 Conference champions University of Massachusetts. Junior diver Victor Paguia (Lake Forest, IL) captured two of the three wins by taking both the one- and three-meter diving competition, scoring 261.60 and 297.08 points respectively. Sophomore Mike Kelly (Shrewsbury, NJ) provided the third win in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :21.96. Kelly fell just short of another first-place finish by just six one-hundredths of a second in the 100-yard freestyle, which he finished in :49.01 seconds.
Second-place points were provided by freshman Michael Bear (Arlington, VA) in the both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:16.22) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.68). Junior Chris Collins (Phoenix, AZ) also placed second in the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes in :57.32 seconds and 2:06.90, respectively. Freshman Griffin Moodie (Edina, MN) missed first place by a mere five one-hundredths of a second in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing at 1:07.6.
