BOSTON, MA--Sophomore Lidija Breznikar (Kotpje, Slovenia) remained undefeated in three events, while senior Kelli Sweeting (Sarasota, FL) took a pair of firsts and senior Stacey Gallacher (Horseheads, NY) won her specialty, but the Terrier women's swimming and diving team dropped a 177-123 decision to Boston College on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
It was the Terriers' first dual meet since Dec. 6 when they defeated the University of Maine, 195-104. The loss to the Eagles dropped B.U.'s record to 2-4-1.
Breznikar, who finished the first semester with a dual-meet record of 18-0, won the 200 fly in 2:07.62, the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.91, and the 200 individual medley in 2:09.69. With the three wins, her record this season is 21-0.
Sweeting was the Terriers' next top point-getter as she won both backstroke events-the 100 in 1:00.84 and the 200 in 2:10.09.
Gallacher accounted for the final Terrier win when she captured the one-meter dive with 265.52 points. She also competed in the three-meter dive and finished third with 227.70 points.
The Terriers' most successful event was the one-meter dive where Gallacher led a 1-2-5 Terrier finish. Senior Kristin Stratton (Aurora, CO) was second with 248.85 points, while freshman Megan White (Falmouth, ME) was fifth with 214.95 points.
