Basketball Tips Off 2005-06 With First Practice

The Boston University women???s basketball team hit the hardwood for the first time on Friday night when the Terriers held their first official practice of the 2005-06 season.
The BU women are coached by Kelly Greenberg (15-16, 2nd season) and are coming off a 2004-05 campaign in which they went 15-16 and fell to Hartford in the America East championship game after finishing the regular reason eighth in the conference standings. Senior guard Rachael Vanderwal led the team in scoring last season at 11.3 ppg and averaged 5.0 assists per game. Junior guard Katie Meinhardt is back as well, after a splendid sophomore season in which she averaged 11.1 ppg and shot 41% from three-point range.
???We are excited to get on the floor and start looking toward our first game, ???said Greenberg. ???We have a nice blend of youth and experience and the players worked hard over the summer to prepare themselves for the season.???
The Terrier women open their season on Nov. 18 at St. John???s. The first home game is Nov. 21 against Northeastern.
