Women???s Swimming Drops Meet to Northeastern

BOSTON ??? The Boston University women???s swimming lost its first dual meet of the season, suffering a 167.5-135.5 setback to Northeastern Saturday afternoon at the FitRec Aquatic Center on BU???s campus. The Terriers, who opened with a win over Binghamton last weekend, fell to 1-1 on the season in dual meets.
Individually, BU was led by Christina Ruggeiro, who won three events, including the 1,000-yard free in 10:47.15, the 500-yard free in 5:10.54 and the 200-yard free in 1:57.03. Lidija Breznikar captured the 200-yard Fly in 2:07.01, winning by more than two seconds, and she also won the 200 IM in a nifty time of 2:07.84. Alex Crerar continued her dominance in the diving events, capturing both the one-meter event (262.65) and the three-meter event (273.53). Natalie Boyd had a strong showing, finishing second behind Ruggiero in both the 500-yard free (5:20.22) and the 200-yard free (1:57.22).
BU returns to the pool next weekend when both the men and the women host New Hampshire. Meet time is 1 p.m. at the FitRec Aquatic Center.
