
Hassan Named America East Rookie of the Week

Freshman guard Corey Hassan (Merrimack, N.H.) was named the America East Rookie of the Week Monday for his efforts in three Terrier wins last week. The honor is the first conference accolade for a BU player this season. BU (3-5, 2-0 America East) snapped a five-game season-opening losing streak with wins against Harvard (72-63), New Hampshire (67-46) and Maine (58-55).
Hassan led the team with 17 points in the victory over Harvard and was 4-6 from three-point range; he led the team with a career-high 18 points on 6-9 three-point shooting against New Hampshire ??? his home-state school; and he tied for the team lead with 16 points and hit 3-6 from beyond the arc in the win at Maine. Hassan shot 55.2% from the field and 61.9% from three-point range on the week; he entered last week shooting just 29.2% from the field and 25.6% from three-point range. He currently ranks eighth on BU???s single-season 3-point FG made by a freshman with 23 and leads the Terriers in scoring at 11.1 ppg.
BU takes on the University of Massachusetts tonight at 7 p.m. in the Mullins Center. The Terriers will be playing their fourth game in seven days, but do not play again until Dec. 22 at Canisius.
