
Raffo Earns America East Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON - After recording the top two scoring performances of her career, sophomore Cheri Raffo (Asbury, N.J.) was named the America East Co-Player of the Week for women's basketball, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. Raffo currently leads the Terriers in scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game.
Raffo shared the honor with Stony Brook's Jessica Smith, who scored a team-high 21 points in the Seawolves' 58-56 upset victory against No. 19/20 Temple.
In BU's 73-59 road victory over Brown on Wednesday, Raffo topped her previous career high of 17 points with a 19-point showing in addition to recording seven rebounds and three assists. On Saturday against Indiana at the RCA Dome, Raffo did one better, totaling a new career best of 20 points.
She went a combined 14-of-26 (.538) from the floor in the two games, including a remarkable 8-of-14 (.571) from 3-point range.
In addition to her scoring average of 12.1 points this season, Raffo is averaging 4.0 rebounds per contest. She is tied with senior co-captain Rachael Vanderwal for the team lead in steals with 10.
Raffo has started in all of BU's 38 games since her arrival last season. Her 31 starts as a freshman were the most ever for a BU rookie.
