Jennifer Strasburger is in her first year as an assistant for the Boston University swimming and diving program. Strasburger will work with the day-to-day coaching of all swimmers and divers, as well as have recruiting responsibilities and organize some team workouts. She comes to B.U. after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at Cal-Berkeley.

Strasburger was a decorated performer at the University of North Carolina, where she graduated in 2000. She earned honorable mention All-America status in each of her four seasons for the Tarheels and was also an Academic All-American in 1999 and 2000. She was the UNC team captain in 1999-2000 as a senior and helped the Tarheels capture the Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 2000. She swam the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle as well as the 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle relay and the 200 and 400-yard medley relay. She was on conference-championship winning 200 and 800-yard freestyle relay teams as well as a two-time 400-yard medley relay title squad. Strasburger also was a three-time recipient of the Hill Carrow Spirit Award and she was awarded the Weaver-James-Corrigan Scholar-Athlete Postgraduate scholarship as a senior.

While on the staff at Cal, Strasburger helped the Bears??? team, featuring Olympians Stacianna Stitts (Sydney, 2000) and Natalie Coughlin (Athens, 2004), finish eighth in the NCAA Championships in 2003 and sixth in 2004. Her duties involved assisting with recruiting, technique, team-building and training. She also helped run a summer camp for youth swimmers.

Strasburger has experience coaching club-level swim teams in the Seattle area and was also the assistant girl???s swim coach at Mercer Island High School from 2000-02.

The 27-year old Strasburger is a native of Mercer Island, Wash. She was a three-time prep All-American at Mercer Island HS and her teams won four consecutive state championships. As a member of the Bellevue Club Swim Team, she was a National Junior Team member in 1995 and won a silver medal at the 1995 Olympic Festival.

Strasburger earned her B.A. in Political Science at North Carolina and graduated in 2000 with honors and distinction. She earned her Masters in Public Policy in 2004 at Cal???s Goldman School of Public Policy. In her spare time, Strasburger is currently learning to sail, and enjoys rock-climbing, traveling, and speaking Italian.
