Women's Swimming Defeats UMass, 133-110

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team defeated the University of Massachusetts, 133-110, at BU's Competition Pool on Saturday afternoon. The women claimed victory in eight events, including two wins for Eve Kinsella.
The women's squad opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of three minutes, 57.78. Ali Chester swam the opening leg, and Lidija Breznikar and Brigette O'Shaughnessy swam the middle two distances, while Eve Kinsella closed out the race for the Terriers. Emily Munday, Laura Hammdorf, Tanaz Irani and Kara Olderog finished third in the event, clocking in at 4:10.10.
Christina Ruggiero, Kristen Williams and Samantha Lupinetti earned 15 points for the Terriers, finishing in first, third and fifth respectively. Ruggiero touched the wall with a winning time of 10:29.64.
BU continued to shine in the 50 free, placing second, third and fourth. Ali Chester was the Terriers top finisher in the event with a 25.15 time.
Eve Kinsella claimed victory in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:10.52. Christina Ruggiero and Kelly Strait were close behind with second and fifth place finishes. Ruggiero finished in 2:12.67, while Strait clocked in at 2:17.19.
Alex Crerar was victorious in the 3-meter diving event earning a score of 260.40, and in the next event, Brigette O'Shaughnessy won the 200 butterfly in 2:07.57. In the women's 3-meter diving, Alex Crerar took third place with 229.20.
Ali Chester won her first individual race of the meet after swimming the second leg of the winning 400-medley relay. Chester finished in 2:08.47.
Breznikar won the 200 breaststroke with a 2:21.52 time, while O'Shaughnessy took second with a time of 2:26.75. Hammdorf finished in 2:31.92 for fourth place.
