
Men's Basketball Cruises Past St. Bonaventure, 74-46

Morris led the Terriers on 7-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-6 from three in the second half. Freshman Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.) added 17 points and a career-high eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. Senior co-captain Brian Macon (Boynton Beach, Fla.) was the third Terriers in double figures with 13 points, 3-for-4 for three, and four rebounds. Freshman Scott Brittain (Oakville, Ont.) had six points and a game-high and career-high 10 rebounds. Michael Lee led the Bonnies with 17 points.
The Terriers had an excellent start to the game, taking an early 10-point lead. The closest the Bonnies got in the first half was within six points, 20-14, at 4:24. Boston University used the long ball, making seven threes in the second half to maintain the double-digit lead, and was never seriously threatened.
Boston University made 10 or more threes for the third time this season. The Terriers' 60.0 percent shooting percent marks the first time in three years BU has shot that well.
BU used a 10-4 run to move out to a 39-22 advantage at 16:42 in the second half after two threes by Morris and Macon, the last a shot-clock buzzer-beater. Eight straight points by Morris aided the Terriers in taking a 47-29 lead at 14:05 in the second. Brittain and Lowe combined to score nine points over the next seven minutes to keep BU's lead in double figures, 56-39, with 7:35 to go in the game. The Bonnies never got close the rest of the way. BU took as much as a 29-point lead with 35 seconds left on a fast break layup by freshman Sherrod Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.)
Boston University jumped out to a 12-2 lead at 14:04 after the Terriers' man defense put solid pressure on St. Bonaventure. Lowe scored the first bucket of the game on a pull-up jumper at 17:38. BU got a pair of two-pointers from Morris and Omari Peterkin (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) before Macon and Lowe each hit a three. Brittain drove the lane for two points to extend BU's lead to 14-2 at 12:07 before the Bonnies scored their first basket of the game, a three by Lee seven seconds later.
BU took a 17-5 advantage after Lowe converted a three-point play at 11:35, and SBU's Tyler Relph hit a jumper - its second basket of the game - at 8:15, 17-7. Smith sunk the second of two free throws at 5:28 to break a six-point St. Bonaventure scoring run and a six-minute scoring drought by the Terriers. Smith knocked in a two to give BU a 20-11 lead at 4:48, and an Ibrahim Konate (Bamako, Mali) dunk on a fast break after a steal by Lowe pushed BU's lead back to ten, 24-14, at 3:44. The Terriers took a 29-18 lead into the locker room after Macon stroked a three with two seconds left on the shot clock and one on the scoreboard.
BU returns home to host Massachusetts on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. in Agganis Arena
