MADISON, Wis. – The No. 11 Boston University men’s crew team posted a Saturday morning win over No. 20 Oregon State in a regatta on the University of Wisconsin’s home course on Lake Mendota. In the lone race of the day for the Terriers, the varsity held a three-second advantage over the Beavers, while BU’s junior varsity boat came up third.
BU got off to a good start and pulled out to half a length lead after 25 strokes, then held close to a length advantage at 500 meters. Controlling the race throughout the remaining 1,500 meters, the Terriers maintained the margin throughout for the win in 5:53.3, ahead of Oregon State (5:56.4) and the BU junior varsity contingency (6:09.6).
“We rowed well in a tailwind, although the conditions weren’t overly fast,” said BU Head Coach Rodney Pratt. “We changed the lineup again during the week and I think we have made the fastest combination – I’m happy with the win.”
The Terriers will remain in Wisconsin to face the Badgers and MIT for the Jablonic Cup on Sunday morning.
