
Swimming and Diving Highlights from 2005-06

The Boston University men's and women's swimming and diving team completed a very successful 2005-06 campaign under first year head coach Bill Smyth. Several school records were broken and almost every Terrier athlete achieved a personal best in his or her event. A look at some of the accomplishments and highlights from the past season:
· Hosted the 2006 America East Swimming & Diving Championships
· BU has the newest swimming facility in the northeast
· BU Women placed 3rd at America East Championships
· BU Men placed 4th at America East Championships
· Men & Women finished 4-4 in dual meet competition; best in 4 years
· Lidija Breznikar – 3 school records
o 200 IM – 2:04.76
o 400 IM – 4:21.97
o 200 Brst – 2:16.54
· 800 Free Relay School Record for Women – 7:40.47
· Christina Ruggiero 2nd fastest 1000 free time in BU history
· Lidija Breznikar – 1 conference record in 400 IM
· Alex Crerar – American East women’s 3 Meter Diving Champion
· Brian Lawler – American East men’s 3 Meter Diving Champion
· 3 Divers qualified for Zones
· 25 In-season Lifetime bests
· 37 Un-rested Best times
· 95% of the Men’s Team swam at least one lifetime best
· 77% of the Women’s Team swam at least one lifetime best
· 98% of the team swam a best collegiate time
· Over 350 seconds were dropped from last year by returners
· 18 Women scored at conference - 7 more than last year
· 19 Men scored at conference - 5 more than last year
· BU coaches were told numerous times that our team showed the most enthusiasm on deck during the America East Championships!
