BOSTON - Seniors Brian Macon and Omari Peterkin have been named co-captains for the 2006-07 Boston University men's basketball team, as announced this week by head coach Dennis Wolff. The duo will lead the way for a young squad that will look to return to the top of the America East standings.
Macon, who joined the BU program last year after spending two seasons at Miami Dade College, was one of only two players to earn a start in all 28 games for the Terriers last year and he led the team in assists. He averaged 5.7 points per game and recorded eight assists on three different occasions. The guard from Boynton Beach, Fla., set a career-high in points and rebounds with 14 and six, respectively, in last season's road contest against Rider.
Peterkin established himself as a legitimate post threat midway through his junior campaign, as nine of his 12 starts came against conference opponents. The transfer from Notre Dame has appeared in 47 contests during the past two seasons with career averages of 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. Peterkin tallied a career-best 19 points against Holy Cross last year as part of a 6.0 points-per-game average.
