Women Finish Ninth at NCAA Regionals; Men Place 15th

BOSTON - The Boston University women's and men's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Regionals at Franklin Park on Saturday, finishing ninth and 15th, respectively. Senior Andrea Walkonen finished 10th for the women's side (21:01.35) while senior David Proctor crossed first for the Terrier men with a 50th place finish (31:11.90).

Providence (73), Stony Brook (118), Boston College (132), Syracuse (139), Brown (142), Columbia (165), Cornell (200) and Harvard (218) placed ahead of the Boston University women (225) in the 36 team field.

After Walkonen, senior Anne Wighton finished 27th (21:32.00), senior Jessica Cickay finished 31st (21:39.45), freshman Emma Reed placed 69th (22:19.05) and sophomore Sarah Mosser placed 88th (22:39.60).

On the men's side, Iona (37) finished first, followed by Providence (46), Syracuse (132), Brown (188), Cornell (193), Dartmouth (197), Harvard (201), Stony Brook (268), Yale (268), Columbia (275), UMass Amherst (284), Army (302), Boston College (332) and New Hampshire (342) finished ahead of the Terrier men (345) out of 34 teams.

Sophomore Eric Ashe (62nd, 31:25.65) was the first BU runner to finish after Proctor, followed by senior Jake LaRoe (69th, 31:29.35), senior Nick Goodman (70th, 31:31.10), senior Patrick Hoye (94th, 32:03.05), freshman Kenneth Haltom (121nd, 32:37.05) and junior Tom McLean (129th, 32:42.35).

The next cross country competition is the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 19 at LaVern Gibson Course in Haute, Ind.
