HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Looking to snap a three-game skid, the Boston University men's basketball team travels south to meet Marshall on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. The two teams are meeting for the first time in program history.
The Herd is 2-0 on the year after handing Pikesville a 60-49 loss to open the season. Marshall comes into Sunday's contest after ekeing out an 84-83 overtime win over East Tennessee State on Nov. 20. The Herd trailed for nearly the entire game, ending regulation on a 28-16 run. MU survived a last-second 3-point attempt in overtime by ETSU that fell short.
Marshall has four players averaging double figures on the year. Junior forward Markel Humphrey is the team's leading scorer with 18 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Senior guard Mark Dorris and sophomore forward Tyler Wilkerson are tied for second with 13.5 ppg. Freshman guard Matt Walls is MU's leading rebounder (8.0 rpg).
Boston University (1-3) started the year with a win over St. Bonaventure but is currently on a three-game slide. The Terriers dropped a 65-58 decision to Northeastern on Nov. 19. The Huskies went up early and held off repeated BU rallies throughout the game. Sophomores Scott Brittain (Oakville, Ont.), Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.), Carlos Strong (Portland, Maine) and red-shirt junior Matt Wolff (Walpole, Mass.) all scored in double figures for the Terriers. Lowe and Wolff totaled 12 points apiece, while Strong and Brittain each scored 10.
Lowe leads the Terriers with 14.8 ppg. He is followed by Brittain's 10.8 ppg and team-best 5.3 rpg.
BU continues its road swing with a stop in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Nov. 27 to face the Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
