Golf Sweeps America East Weekly Awards

BOSTON - Freshmen Akhilesh Chitlangia and Kaitlyn Mardeusz have been named America East Men’s and Women's Golfer of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Chitlangia (Kolkata, India/La Martiniere) finished in a three-way tie for 21st at the River Hawk Invitational with an 81-82—163 score.

Mardeusz (Novi, Mich./Mercy) had two of her best outings in her young career with a ninth-place finish at the MA State Championships and a 12th-place finish at the Jack Leaman Invite, the best among all America East golfers. At the MA States, Mardeusz shot 43-44—87 and at the Jack Leaman Invite shot 79-87—166.

The men's golf team will travel to Binghamton, N.Y. for the America East Championships on May 5-6, and the women's squad will begin AE Championship competition in Apalachin, N.Y. on May 5-6.
