April 7, 2007 | Men's Rowing
BOSTON - The Boston University men's crew team competed in the Michalson Cup Saturday morning against Brown University on the Charles River. The Bears have won the cup every year since 1987.
Brown University is ranked third and BU 13th in this week's USRowing poll.
Brown got off to a faster start in all four races and won each by open water. In the first freshman race, the boats were even through the first 500 meters, but Brown took a full length lead by 1000m and stayed ahead.
In the 3V/2F race, BU did defeat the second Brown boat, starting strong and holding off the Bears throughout the race.
The Michalson Cup was named after Victor Michalson, Brown's first full-time crew coach who served from 1961-1982.
