Women's Crew Has Solid Day At Eastern Sprints

Camden, N.J.—All four seeded Boston University women’s crew boats finished at or above their seeding at the 2007 EAWRC Eastern Sprints held on the Cooper River. The varsity eight finished fourth in the Petite Final to place tenth overall, while the second novice eight and the third varsity four “B” each went to their Grand Finals.
The varsity boat rowed in the third heat, seeded tenth, and placed third in 7:19.72 behind Princeton and Dartmouth. The eight was narrowly edged out of third place in the Petite Final by Rhode Island. The Rams rowed in at 6:56.77 to BU’s 6:56.97.
The JV eight placed second in the Petite Final for an overall finish of eighth, matching its seed entering the day’s races. BU placed third in its heat, in 7:21.95, and then rowed the 2000m course in 7:01.56.
The third varsity four “A” improved two spots on its seeding, winning its Petite Final. The Terriers placed third in the morning heat, rowing in 8:24.96 before returning to the river in the afternoon to win the final in 7:59.60. The third varsity four “B” went to the Grand Final after a third-place finish in the morning heat (8:45.73). The Terriers placed fifth in the Grand, in 8:16.476.
The 12th-seeded first novice eight finished fourth in the first heat (7:45.19) and fourth in the afternoon’s Petite Final (7:28.02) to place tenth overall, while the second novice eight fell to Radcliffe and Rhode Island in the event’s second heat and finished fourth in the Petite Final (7:55.15).
