Final Brackets

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore John Hall finished second at 197 pounds and senior Mike Roberts (149) and freshman Hunter Meys (174) earned third-place finishes in their respective brackets to lead the way for the Boston University wrestling team at the Keystone Classic on Sunday at The Palestra. The Terriers placed eighth in the tournament's team standings.

Hall won his first three matches, including a 6-3 decision against Brown's Branden Stearns, before being edged, 4-3, by Pitt's Matt Wilps in the championship match.

Roberts opened with a pair of major decisions before suffering a 3-1 setback to American's Kyle Borshoff in the 149-pound semifinals. In the consolations, Roberts defeated Rider's Nick Weaver, 7-5, to reach the third-place match, where he was victorious by a 5-3 margin against Pitt's Mark Powell.

At 174, Meys avenged an opening-round loss to Pitt's Dave Sullivan by posting a 4-1 victory over him in the third-place match. Meys reached the consolation final by recording three consecutive first-period falls.

Senior Jim Connors (285), junior Abbie Rush (125) and redshirt freshman Dan Kennedy (184) all earned two wins on the day.

Tournament host Penn claimed the team title with 138.5 points, including four individual titles. Pittsburgh (135) and American (104.5) rounded out the top three in the 10-team tournament.

The Terriers will take two weeks off from competition before returning to action at the Nittany Lion Open on Sunday, Dec. 7.
