CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman Jake O'Brien received his first-ever America East Rookie of the Week nod after scoring all 21 of his points in the second half to help the Boston University men's basketball team come-from-behind to defeat Northeastern, 83-75. He also added 11 points in the first half to help keep the Terriers in the game against defending Northeast Conference champion Mount St. Mary's.
A native of nearby Weymouth, Mass., the former Boston College H.S. player torched the Huskies in the second stanza, hitting 7-of-9 attempts, including 5-of-7 from the 3-point line. Against the Mount, the 6-foot-8 forward was 5-of-11, as he also recorded an assist and three rebounds.
Through his first five collegiate games, O'Brien ranks 12th in the conference in scoring (12.6 ppg), third on the team, and fifth in 3-point percentage (11-of-25, .440 ).
He earned the team's second-straight AE weekly honor after sophomore John Holland received co-player of the week accolades last week.
