Women's Crew Reclaims Playfair Cup

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Boston University women's rowing team reclaimed the Playfair Cup Saturday morning on the Cooper River, racing against Navy and George Washington. Facing only a slight tailwind and chop, the BU women won by a little over a length over last year's winner, Navy.
The varsity led from start to finish and turned in a time of 6:35.15 to Navy's 6:40.52. George Washington came in third in 7:00.93.
BU came in second in the second varsity, varsity 4+, and novice eight races. In the JV eight, Navy won in 6:52.38, BU finished in 6:58.73, and GW was third in 7:29.42. The Terriers' time of 7:45.96 placed them just behind the Midshipmen in the varsity 4+. Navy won that race in 7:38.02. Finally, in the novice eight BU crossed the finish line in 7:11.47, behind Navy (7:04.97) but in front of Navy's second novice (7:12.87) and GW (7:41.99).
The Terriers return to action on Saturday, April 12 against Yale and Dartmouth in the Class of 1985 Cup in Derby, Conn. starting at 9:00 a.m.
