
Four Terriers Compete in Lucerne World Cup

BOSTON - BU alumni Florian Mennigen, Jozef Klaassen, and Will Daly and current sophomore Meindert Klem each competed in the Rowing World Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland this past weekend. All four finished first, second or third in the B Finals to put them in good position for the next step to qualify for the Olympics in Poland from June 20-22.
Mennigen rowed in Germany's 4- which won its B Final, just edging out Great Britain by 0.27 seconds. Germany placed in 6:00.62 to Great Britain's 6:00.89.
Rowing for the Netherlands, Klaassen's eight finished second to France in 5:42.85 by just under a length. Klem also competed for the Dutch, rowing in the 2x and finishing third in 6:27.74.
Daly, in the USA's lightweight straight four, was narrowly beaten out for the top spot in the B Final by Australia. The Aussies crossed the line in 6:07.57 - just 0.12 seconds faster the the US's time of 6:07.69.
