
Daly, Nash to Represent US Rowing at 2008 Olympics

BOSTON - Boston University men's crew alumnus Will Daly ('06) has made the US lightweight men's 4- and will row in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, USRowing announced last week, pending approval from the US Olympic Committee. Two-time Olympic medalist and long-time US National team coach Ted Nash ('54) will coach the men's 2-.
Nash and Daly join fellow alumnus Jozef Klaassen ('07) and current Terrier Meindert Klem ('10) as rowing representatives from Boston University. Alumnus Florian Menningen ('06) was elected team captain of the German 8+ this week; the German Olympic team will be announced on July 15.
Ted Nash won gold at the 1960 Rome Games in the 4-, the first American crew to ever win the event, in 6:26.6. Four years later he again medaled in the 4-, this time a bronze in Tokyo. Nash won numerous Pan-American and World Championships and has coached crews at the last 11 Olympics.
This is Daly's first Olympics, but he has competed in the last two World Championships and rowed in the 2005 U23 World Championships.
