Ashe Places Fourth at New England Championships

BOSTON - Captain Eric Ashe ran to a fourth-place finish among 320 runners at the Northeast Championship meet, leading Boston University to a 15th-place finish at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon. Katie Matthews fronted the women's team with a 17th-place finish, helping the Terrier women finish 16th in the 49-team field.
Ashe logged the fastest time for the Terriers for the third time this season, completed the 8K course in 24:42. Peter Gilmore was the next highest finisher for BU, crossing the line in 77th-place with a time of 25:56. David Polgar (94th, 26:10), Joe Greenspun (123rd, 26:22) and James Weider (171st, 26:48) rounded out the scorers for BU.
With top scoring threat Andrea Walkonen out, Matthews paced the Terriers with a time of 18:22 on the 5K course. Kathleen Davies turned in a top-25 finish, crossing the line in 18:34, good enough for 25th. Sarah Mosser (49th, 18:51), Marita Stressenger (126th, 19:45) and Annamarie Lukes (174th, 20:12) also scored points for the Terriers.
Both the men and the women are back in action in two weeks as they travel to New Britain, Conn., to participate in the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Oct. 24.
