Terriers Sweep Weekly AE Awards

Cambridge, Mass. - Swimmers Kyle Ernst and Maria McIntyre, along with divers Tanner Knorr and Melinda Matyas have swept the America East weekly awards, the conference announced on Tuesday. The quartet helped lead a sweep of Colgate on Saturday afternoon.
Winning four events and capturing the top spot in the 2009 America East standings in both the 100 and 200 breast, Ernst led the Terrier men to a win over Colgate. Ernst swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, touching first in 1:35.26 to claim his first win of the meet. He then placed first in the 100 breast in 57.53 and the 200 breast in 2:06.48, both the fastest times posted by an America East swimmer this season. Ernst then posted the second fastest 2009 conference time in the 200 IM, winning the race in 1:55.66.
McIntyre earns her first female Swimmer of the Week honor after winning the 50 free in 23.13, a time that ranks McIntyre in the top 20 in the country and is only .01 off a BU school record. Opening the meet by swimming the first leg of the 200 medley relay that won in 1:44.33, McIntyre then went on to win the 50 free and the 100 free in times that put her atop the conference performance list. She also swam the last leg of the 400 free relay that clocked in at 3:28.80 for the win.
Knorr claims his third Diver of the Week accolade after sweeping the men's diving events against Colgate. Knorr won the one-meter with a score of 274.74 while posting a score of 326.35 to win the three meter. While he already held the top spot in America East on the one-meter, Knorr takes over as number one in the three-meter with his score of 326.35 on Saturday.
Matyas garners her fourth-straight award after continuing her dominance on the boards with her fourth-straight diving sweep. Holding the top spot in the 2009 conference standings in both the one- and three-meter dive, Matyas posted winning scores of 276.90 on the one-meter and 275.10 on the three-meter this past weekend.
