Two Terrier Boats Reach Grand Final at Eastern Sprints

CAMDEN, N.J. - Two boats from the Boston University women's rowing team reached the Grand Final of the Eastern Sprints with the other three reaching the Petite Final Sunday afternoon on the Cooper River. Seeded eighth, the varsity four "b" boat had the top result with a fifth-place showing, while the second varsity eight squad took sixth.
As a team, the Terriers finished 10th overall in the Charles Willing trophy standings with 30 points. Yale won the competition with 68 points.
During the morning session, the 2V8 boat coxed by Kayla Rivers and stroked by Erin Cope finished second at 7:06.411, outpacing Columbia's time of 7:07.717 to earn a spot in the Grand Final. The Terriers finished sixth overall with Brown winning the race.
The V4 "b" boat took third in its morning race with a time of 7:49.198, three seconds more than Navy, to advance to the Grand Final. Coxed by Angela King and stroked by Margaret Carbery, the Terrier boat then placed fifth, ahead of Syracuse, while Yale came out the victor in the afternoon.
Seeded seventh, the V8 boat, coxed by Alex Thornton and stroked by Alaina Krumbach, fell short of grabbing one of the two sports for the Grand Final, placing third in its heat at 6:50.525 with sixth-seed Northeastern placing second at 6:46.851. BU took sixth in the Petite Final to finish 12th overall.
The V4 "a" and N8 boats both took third in their respective heats with the V4 squad, coxed by Fiona Ye and stroked by Sarah Hughes, posting the best finish in the Petite Final. The boat took second at 7:32.923, seven seconds behind Bucknell.
