
Women's Swimming and Diving Edged by UMBC, 156-144

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team was edged by UMBC, 156-144, on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore, Md.
BU won eight events, as Amanda Schmitz won three events, Kristen Connors and Melinda Matyas claimed two and Maria McIntyre came out on top in one event.
Connors opened her two-win afternoon with a victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.01, and then claimed the the 200 breast in 2:23.64.
Schmitz was victorious in the 200 fly (2:04.20), 500 free (5:03.84) and finally the 200 IM (2:08.12).
McIntyre and Kirsten Tullis went 1-2 in the 50 free with times of 24.05 and 24.47, respectively.
In the diving events, BU earned a big chunk of points as Matyas swept first on both the 1M (260.92) and the 3M (278.32). Also, Sarah Colton picked up second in the 1M (235.27) and Chelsea Glincman claimed third (229.42). On the 3M, Glincman came in just behind Matyas with a score of 246.22.
Before hosting the Terrier Invitational from Nov. 19-21, BU will continue with its road stretch with three more meets: Colgate (Nov. 7), Stony Brook (Nov. 12) and Fordam (Nov. 13).
