
Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Stony Brook, Fordham

The Boston University women's swimming and diving team won two meets this weekend, claiming a 144-96 victory over Stony Brook on Friday night and a 172-126 win over Fordham.
Amanda Schmitz was the squad's big winner with five victories in two meets. Beginning on Friday at Stony Brook, the junior won the 1,000 free in 10:32.63 and then switched it up for a triumph in the 200 fly in 2:07.08. On Saturday at Fordham, she was able to top her performance from a day before with three wins. The first came in the 200 fly (2:02.72), followed by the 500 free (5:02.01) and the 200 IM (2:08.33).
Sophomore diver Melinda Matyas won all four of her events over the weekend. On Friday, she claimed the 1M with a score of 259.50 and the 3M with a score of 270.00, while she repeated the feat on Saturday with scores of 264.75 (1M) and 303.60 (3M), respectively.
Rookie Meaghan Grimes won two events over the weekend, with the first coming on Friday at SBU in the 200 free (1:55.33), followed by Saturday's win in the 1,000 free (10:18.72) at Fordham. Also winning multiple events over the weekend was Kirsten Tullis (Fri: 50 free 24.60; Sat: 100 fly 57.18), Maria McIntyre (Fri: 100 free 52.81; Sat: 50 free 24.32) and Kristen Connors (Sat: 100 breast 1:07.01; 200 breast 2:22.24).
BU returns to Competition Pool this upcoming weekend for the Terrier Invitational from Nov. 19-21.
