BRONX, N.Y. - The Boston University cross country teams completed their seasons at the IC4A and ECAC Championships on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., with the women’s team placing 10th and the men’s squad finishing 19th.
Junior Katie Matthews paced the Terriers on the women’s side with a third-place finish. She completed the 5K course in 17:37.2. Junior Madeline Steiner finished in 51st place with a time of 18:59.6, while classmate Anna Lukes crossed the finish line in 19:23.4, good for 71st place. Sophomore Marita Stressenger secured a 74th-place finish with a time of 19:27.0, while classmate Danielle Bowen rounded out the Terriers’ top runner with an 86th-place finish (19:54.7).
As a team, BU finished in 10th place and accumulated 251 points. James Madison, which won the championship, secured 47 points.
On the men’s side, senior James Weider led the Terriers with a 99th-place finish (26:45.5), while classmate Ken Haltom placed 121st with a time of 27:04.7. Junior David Krinjak crossed the finish line in 27:15.2, good for 130th place, and sophomore Terence Galasso secured a 135th-place finish with a time of 27:19.3. Classmate Michael Caputo rounded out BU’s runners with a 138th-place finish (27:26.7).
The Terriers recorded 551 points, while champion Duke finished with 44 points.
