
Varsity Four Boats Lead Terriers at Eastern Sprints

CAMDEN, N.J. - Two boats from the Boston University women's rowing team reached the Grand Final of the Eastern Sprints with the other three reaching the Petite Final Sunday afternoon on the Cooper River. Seeded fourth, the varsity four "b" boat had the top result with a fourth-place showing, while its "a" counterpart took sixth.
The Terriers took 10th overall in the team standings, finishing with 97 points. Yale won the title with 188, followed by Brown (187), Princeton (168), COrnell (157), Radcliffe (134), Penn (130), Dartmouth (119), Columbia (112), Northeastern (111). BU placed ahead of eight schools, including Bucknell (86), Syracuse (79) and Navy (79).
Each of the three varsity eight boats took fourth in its respective morning heat and placed either 11th or 12th overall in the afternoon. Coxed by Alex Thornton and stroked by Alaina Krumbach, the varsity eght boat finished ahead of Rutgers by two seconds to take fifth in the Petite Final.
The varsity four 'b' boat coxed by Fiona Ye and stroked by Megan Connell missed out on a medal by five seconds after taking second in the morning session.
The varsity four 'a' boat coxed by Mia Serabian and stroked by Gabby Cutler topped Penn by three seconds in the morning to advance to the Grand Final. However, they posted a slower time in the afternoon to place sixth during the afternoon.
