BOSTON - Head coach Bruce Lehane has announced the 2010 schedule for the Boston University men’s and women’s cross country teams. The schedule is highlighted by three home meets at Franklin Park, including the America East Championships in October.
“We’re excited to host our first three races of the season,” said Lehane, who is entering his 29th season at the program’s helm. “With our familiarity with the courses and our returning squads, we’re poised to make a strong run at the conference titles.”
Beginning with the America East Pre-Championships on Sept. 19, the Terriers will host their first three races of the season at Franklin Park. BU returns to action with the New England Championships on Oct. 9 and concludes the home portion of its schedule with the America East Championships on Oct. 30.
The Terriers will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 13 with runners seeking to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22. In between regional action and the national championships, BU will travel to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., for the IC4A and ECAC Championships on Nov. 20.
Highlighting the returnees from the men’s squad is rising senior Eric Ashe, who last year won his race at the America East Pre-Championships. He also placed fourth at the New England Championships and ninth at the America East Championships.
On the women’s side, rising junior Katie Matthews was the squad’s top finisher in 2009, placing eighth at the America East Championships, 17th at the New England Championships and 34th at the NCAA Regionals.
