Junior Alex Thornton was named the most valuable player for the 2010 Boston University women's rowing team after coxing the varsity eight boat to victories over rival Northeastern, the Big 10's Indiana and Central Florida. She also guided the championship four boat to the fastest collegiate time at the Head of the Charles to earn the program's first-ever medal in one of the world's premiere regattas.
Besides picking up wins against the Hoosiers and Golden Knights during the Dale England Cup, the Terriers also sped past Miami (OH) to finish the event undefeated.
In the final race of the season, the 12th-seeded BU boat placed 11th ahead of Rutgers at the Eastern Sprints.
