
Terriers Sweep Cross Country Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Boston University swept the cross country awards this week, as senior Chris Mercurio and junior Marita Stressenger were each named America East Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Both harriers led their respective teams at the Mayor’s Cup this past Sunday at Franklin Park, a race comprised of both collegiate and non-collegiate athletes. Mercurio (Brookline, Mass.) posted a team-best time of 26:17 to finish ninth among runners at the college level.
Stressenger (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the top finisher for the Terriers on the women’s side, as she posted a time of 19:31. Her pace was good for eighth among collegiate runners.
BU will look to defend its conference crown in the America East Championship on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Albany, N.Y. The women’s race is slated to start at 10:30 a.m., while the men’s race is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m.
