
Cross Country Teams Compete at NCAA Northeast Regional

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Boston University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday afternoon at the Audubon Golf Course just outside of Buffalo, N.Y. The men’s squad finished in ninth place while the women’s team claimed 15th place.
A pair of sophomores led the Terriers on both squads, with Rosa Moriello earning an 18th-place finish (21:18.3) in the women’s 6K to lead BU. Rich Peters led the Terrier men with a 49th place finish (32:37.3) in the 10K event.
Senior Matt Paulson was not far behind Peters, as he finished in 53rd place (32:42.0). After Paulson, the Terriers ran in intervals of three, as seniors Robert Gibson (56th, 32:46.9) and Peter Gilmore (59th, 32:49.7) crossed the finish line in close proximity to one another. Their classmate, Craig MacPherson, finished with a time of 33:07.4 for 75th place.
Senior Joe Greenspun (81st, 33:18.5) and freshman Ben Ravetz (115th, 33:45.0) rounded out the BU harriers on the men’s squad. It is the second straight year that the Terriers have produced a top-10 finish at the Northeast Regional.
Freshman Eleanor Wimshurst turned in a fine NCAA debut, as she finished in 47th place with a time of 21:56.9. Following her were senior Kathleen Davies (79th, 22:37.5), junior Nikki Long (108th, 23:07.4) and senior Anna Lukes (177th, 24:17.3). Senior Mariko Takahashi rounded out the BU contingent in 192nd (24:35.9).
